Gift ideas for 2017
Can you believe December is here? Wow! And many of us will be heading out to the stores soon (if you haven’t done so already, you early bird!).
I do know a few people that are already finished with their shopping hauls and are just starting their gift wrapping process. I am not one of those people, no shopping has been done and I am only just starting to consider what to buy everyone – My idea of last minute shopping is Dec, 24th, 5pm. Yes this has happened to me before, and more than I’d like to admit! But generally, I do my holiday shopping around this time, as December hits but before the mad rush when everyone is officially on leave.
So I’ve been doing a bit of research on what to buy everyone – gifts for both him and her. Whilst I haven’t stepped foot into a store yet, I’d thought I’d share some cool ideas of things to get with you.
And remember – the act of giving gifts is about the thought and love behind the present, rather than the value thereof.
Something to keep you busy!
Fidget spinners were big news, now being replace with fidget cubes, this may be something to consider. These come in handy for people who constantly fidget or like to hold things while working/talking etc. My husband is notorious for this – a paperclip or a pen lying around on his table are generally his victims..
A basket of spoils
Perhaps a luxurious bath robe, or fluffy slippers, snuggly socks or a great set of PJ’s – sometimes something simple is all you need to let the person know that you care about them. Create a pamper package including slippers, face masks and bath salts, for him – package up a bath robe, snuggly socks and a bottle of his favourite aftershave (trust me, there are some guys that will die for this type of gift ;))
A bit of fun in something silly
Emoji’s were huge this year. Perhaps a silly mug, comedic t-shirt will put a smile on anyone’s face (unless of course they just are grumpy human beings and there is no hope ever for them! – raise your hand if you have ever had a friend like this!!)
Thoughtful giving
Get your creative juices flowing and make a card, paint a quick watercolour or create a scrapbooking masterpiece filled with pictures representing your relationship. A little bit of thought goes a long way in saying how much someone means to you.
An activity to share
One of the best gifts I’ve ever received was a basket of things put together representing an activity – in this case it was a picnic basket filled with 2 plates, glasses, napkins and a range of small edible treats from our favourite store. The idea – to go on a picnic date with my new husband. Thoughtful, kind and something we used almost immediately!
My best piece of advice for you is to keep things simple – don’t over complicate it. I’ve done this so many times and you just end up frustrated, and eventually broke!
