Okay, so I’m a girl – that’s the excuse Im sticking too! But boy I do love chocolate (my weakness for sure!), yum yum, but after recently learning just how bad general mass produced chocolate can be for you (sugar, additives, suspect processing), I’ve been somewhat wary of it (and have been avoiding chocolate to my best abilities)
Until recently, when my mom brought home a few bars of the Nova chocolate bars. Oh boy, yummy! I had to try one or two blocks for this post, of course.
These vegan friendly, sugar free chocolates are to die for. Using ingredients that you can actually understand, these offer a great tasty treat!
The four bars that I bought for this quick review were the original AardVark dark chocolate; dark chocolate with Espresso; dark chocolate with roasted Cacao and the dark chocolate with peanut butter.
The Original AardVark dark chocolate
This dark chocolate bar is simply delectable – super smooth, tasty and just rich enough. Unlike other sugar free chocolate varieties, I find the Nova range very similar to sugar filled alternatives – there is no weird fatty feeling left in your mouth or sweetener aftertaste. The other thing – this is a subtle dark chocolate, at 58% cocoa.
Dark chocolate with Espresso
Very similar to the original dark chocolate but containing a coffee flavoured centre. The coffee is subtle and refined – not overbearing at all! Definitely one to consider if you are a coffee lover!
Dark chocolate with roasted Cacao nibs
Ooo boy! This one didn’t tickle my taste buds when reading the packaging – I was picturing bitter nibs in every chew. BUT I was wrong! This ended up being my absolute favourite out of all the four (ok close second was the peanut butter one). This one is very similar to the Original AardVark dark chocolate bar, but instead of smooth and refined, its super crunchy. I personally loved the texture and taste of this bar!
Dark chocolate with peanut butter.
This delectably tasty dark chocolate bar with peanut butter centre was delish! The peanut butter compliments the dark chocolate so well – so if you aren’t a dark chocolate fan, this may be the one to start with. Its definitely sweeter than the rest – however, not overpowering or overly nutty.
Before I forget – the packaging! Oh the packaging! Nova has this down to an absolute art! The imagery, copy writing and overall tone is quirky, fun and humorous.
Also! These babies sell online – so no needing to find them in store, just get them delivered to your door (oo that sounds dangerous for me).
Yes – I am a fan of this brand and product.
