So with such hot summer days, I usually get a craving for something yum. Snacking addict right here! I thought I’d share with you my tried and tested summer treats that are both delicious and healthy (WIN!)
All of these I’ve seen on pinterest, Youtube and other blogs – none original so no credit here, who ever thought of these, genius! But basically my goal was to see if they were easy (i.e. if I can get this one right, so can you! Trust me on this one..).
Blueberry iced smoothie
2 handfuls blueberries
Cup milk (you can use almond milk or an alternative to dairy as well – my go to is hormone free milk which is available from Woolworths)
Water (amount will vary depending on the consistency you’d like)
Honey or sweetener to taste
Chuck everything into a blender and blend for a couple of seconds or until or the ice has been crushed. The blender will also froth the milk a bit, so if you want a thicker smoothie then add less water.
Fruit Ice pops
Fruit of your choice (I used blueberries and strawberries)
Coconut water (or if you aren’t keen on that you can use things like sprite, lemon water, oros mix etc – anything can work!)
Get a ice pop freeze tray and add your liquid of choice and fruit, place in your freezer overnight. Enjoy! I love this one in the hot afternoons – perfect quick snack that will cool you down.
Blueberry yogurt drops
Mix your blueberries in the yogurt, take them out and place the covered blueberries out on a tray. Put the tray into your freezer for a couple of hours to set. And enjoy! If you like eating ice or like cold snacks then these are divine! (My husband ran off with this latest batch and before I could get my hands on many… anyway – let’s say he enjoyed them!!)
