With so many products on the market for defying age, you can easily get lost – but it was recommended to me that I should check out the African Extracts Rooibos range, so here we are! Now I’m only inching into, sort of, nearly .. 30.. *Phew that was hard to say.* But, I should have looked at more of these products sooner – it’s super important to look after your skin, especially if you go into the harsh sun.
If you are looking for a simple, easy and affordable to add to your current skin care routine, this might be for you – so continue reading..
As mentioned, I was looking for something to ease me through to 30 – a product that would hydrate my skin and keep those fine lines at bay. My skin is combination, and still requires good hydration and moisturiser, however any product that is over oily can wreak havoc! (picture intense outbreaks and blotchiness)
I have been testing the advantage range for over a week now, and having used other African Extracts products for years now, this has lived up to my expectation.
The minute you open the boxes, you are overcome by the classic rooibos infused smell – I personally am a big fan of how these products smell, they are not artificial or overly scented.
Advantage Eye Cream – R149.95
For application under your eyes, reducing the under-eye bags and puffiness. Application is recommended using your ring finger, dab sparingly and let soak in. After a week of use, my under eye bags have definitely reduced and I’ve stopped getting the “wow you look so tired!” comments – which is fab! Like most other eye creams, they are a similar consistency but I can say that the African Extracts Advantage eye cream didn’t bother me as much as others do – not sure why specifically this was but a great advantage! (My eyes get very weepy with creams, and I have specifically avoided eye creams for this reason)
Advantage Triple Action Serum – R169.95
This little package carries a punch. With a similar consistency to many other serums on the market, and the same Rooibos smell, this triple action serum was a winner for me. The tube is an easy dispense squirt mechanism, meaning just the right amount comes out. Besides the ease of use, I found that the Advantage Triple Action serum soaked right into my skin leaving it feeling subtle and refreshed.
Advantage SPF 15 Enriched Hand and Nail cream – R51.95
This baby has been living on my desk. While I find the smell a bit strange – a mix of SPF sunscreen and the familiar Rooibos scent, overall I rather like this hand cream. It does take a few minutes to properly soak in, but after that it leaves your skin feeling super soft.
If you are looking for something to add to your skin care routine that won’t break the bank, then give the Advantage range a go – I would recommend this as a good entry product into anti-aging and fine line prevention. As with all skin care routines, it should be followed on a regular basis and you will only see real improvements after a while and with proper care (including keeping hydrated!).
