So with Monday having just rolled by (and not too many left of the year..), it had me thinking – Do you start your Monday (or any other day for that matter) off strong?
I’m sure we’ve all heard it – Never miss a Monday. But sometimes.. life has a funny way of sneaking itself in (dramatic music playing in the background) and destroys your goals! No but seriously,
Today I felt rough, woke up with a headache and the routine quickly fell away – with that no gym, no yoga. And so began a pretty mundane day..
I needed a way to regain my strength and as this week is going to be pretty huge – we are travelling to NYC shortly and have a fair bit of admin and packing to do – these words came to mind.
Start your day strong, never miss a Monday and be sure to rock that day to the fullest because tomorrow, it will have passed you by like any other ordinary day.
So what actually happens when you skip that gym session or fail to show up?
Well, my theory is one of two things – either you regain that motivation or you back track to bad habits. Either you find the strength in you to get up and try again (fight) or you retreat to what you have always known or bad habits (flight).
I chose to fight, because, well, not only am I still in a health and weight loss journey but because I am still a student in creating new habits day to day. I have come far but I still have so much further to go and I can’t afford to miss a Monday!
What happens when we choose the other route you ask? You lose motivation, you fall into your bad or old habits. But for me, the most damaging part of it, is that we end up being so unkind to ourselves.
Side note – managed to get my gym session in this evening, so ending the day off strong!
